Hi! It's nice to meet you.
My name is Kate Berry and I am the wearer of many hats, including wife, mom, friend, mental health professional, grad school student, and wedding celebrant.
And that's just the beginning...
I live nestled into the mountains of Whitefish, Montana with my hubby, son, and our 2 big, furry dogs. I LOVE living in a place where people come to vacation - not only do I get to enjoy this beautiful place (and all the fun it has to offer) year-round, but I also get to meet people from all over the world!
I officiated my first wedding (my sister’s!) in 2005, then had the opportunity to do the honors for two of my best friends (who I introduced!) years later. After those experiences (and sitting through one too many boring, cookie-cutter ceremonies) it dawned on me that officiating weddings combined three of my favorite things: getting to know people, writing, and public speaking! That's when Lindsey Jane Photography and I joined forces to create the Elope Montana Collective, and I began to offer my services as a non-denominational wedding officiant.
My educational background is in social work, and I am currently working towards my Master’s in Social Work through Florida State University. My ultimate goal is to become a therapist, specializing in working with couples and families. I am also an Associate Certified Coach through the International Coach Federation and am certified in Level 1 Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
In addition to officiating weddings and elopements, I also work part-time as a program coordinator with a local non-profit that focuses on suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
Other adventures and accomplishments include: restoring a 1971 Chevy Nova, dropping out of art school, backpacking solo through Panama, and hosting a podcast. On a regular day, I can usually be found with my nose in a book, walking the dogs, organizing the house, or whipping up something in the kitchen (I love to cook!).
All of these aspects of my life have come together in an incredible way, and I couldn't be more fortunate. I strive to celebrate my life as much with attention, compassion, and gratitude as I can muster - because it makes enjoying the ride that much better. I've been known to share parts of my journey, including inspiration and lessons learned on the Joyful Rebel Podcast.
With a host of tattoos, a mop of curly hair, and the kind of voice that makes people say "I thought I heard you over there," - I'm often described as a "big ray of sunshine." This fits my ethos of leaving a trail of joy in my wake, and whether you choose to reach out and say "hello", tune in, or invite me along to help you say "I do," I hope to have the opportunity to shine a little of my light your way.
